It’s a place where I can channel everything

“I’m on my way to my clinical rounds. I am a pharmacy student at Igbinedion University Okada. To be honest, I don’t like it (the pharmacy program). Right now I’m accommodating it because I’m in my finals and I have to end this journey. I try to finish everything I start, but it is really stressful, and I have no passion for it.

Everything is stressful about it. What others that grab in maybe a day, I grab like in 1 week because my spirit is not here. Give me a book in arts, dance, music and the rest is history. I can teach a class and interact and so on. It’s kind of like being a size 16 and trying to force a size 8 down you.

Why and how did I end up in the program in the first place…? Well, 3 things really. (1) I didn’t figure out what I could do on time, (2) I was kind of bribed with 3 shoes (I’ll explain), and (3) peer pressure.

On the ‘shoes’ part. So I passed Junior WAEC, and the next day Daddy bought 3 shoes for me, and told me ‘welcome to the science class.’ That was it! No questions asked, and you know I couldn’t refute or challenge him.

It’s really stressful, and thankfully there’s one thing I love to do that helps a lot with the stress; writing. I really love to write. I am very observant and that creates crazy hidden imaginations in my head. But I’d rather write than talk. Growing up, I had always wanted a diary, and now I have one, well two, both a book and online (and no you cannot share. It’s for my eyes only lol). Anyways, it really helps me a lot with all the stress. It’s a place where I can channel everything, and put my emotions down with no restrictions.

But, to be honest, the sad thing about it is that most times only your eyes get to see it. You know we are all weary of the ITKs and who will call home and report something they don’t agree with. Also, people troll you on the social platforms just because you are genuinely expressing yourself.” #worldPeople
