“I am a member of the Nigerian Red Cross society, and we aim to save lives and promote humanity.

I will never forget, on 31st December 2011, I got an emergency call that a trailer fell into a bridge near Owerri and had a lot of casualties. There were about 14 First Responders at the scene (including me), and there were far more casualties; some fatalities, and a lot of different kind of injuries.
We transported the people to the nearest hospital and returned to contact the government to assist in removing the fallen trailer and all the crashes.

I met one of the passengers and victim of the accident, a student of Imo State University who had recently gotten an admission to study psychology. She was very stranded in addition to the injuries she suffered from the accident; her parents lived in Lagos, which is nowhere near Owerri. Her story captured me, so I decided to help her, and stayed with her at the Federal Medical Center, Owerri for about two weeks before she could recollect a number we could call. We then called the mother who then came from Lagos and took over in taking care of her. She was one of the few that survived the accident and was able to go back to school.

I have really enjoyed being a member of the Nigerian Red Cross Society. We do a lot of positive things that serves humanity and save lives regardless of tribe or religion.”
